Summorum Pontificum - Fiasco en Costa Rica

El siete de julio de 2007 Su Santidad Benedicto XVI promulgó el Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum, en el cual se le recordó al mundo que la Misa de Siempre jamás había sido prohibida y que cualquier sacerdote del rito latino podía celebrarla libremente. Luego de estos 7 años - que calificamos de calvario para los católicos amantes de la tradición en el país - la Misa sigue prohibida. El Señor Arzobispo de San José sigue sin responder nuestras cartas, y la Pontificia Comisión Ecclesia Dei - luego de prácticamente 2 años - sigue sin resolver la horrible situación que se vive en el país, generando así entre los costarricenses serias dudas en cuanto a su efectividad como institución a cargo de resolver esta clase de problemas.

El comunicado oficial que publicamos el 14 de marzo de 2014 sigue vigente en su totalidad (ver aquí). Lamentablemente la situación no ha cambiado en nada y parece que no cambiará en un futuro cercano.

Hoy en Costa Rica celebramos el aniversario del rechazo y la desobediencia a la ley universal de la Iglesia en lo que respecta a la Misa Católica - y la impunidad que gozan los que lo cometen.

Official Communiqué

Back in 07/07/2007 Pope Benedict XVI issued the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum, in which he reminded the world that the Mass of Ages had never been prohibited and that any priest of the Latin Rite could celebrate it freely. After these seven years -  which have been an ordeal for Traditional Catholics in this country - the Mass is still banned. The Archbishop of San José has not answered any of our letters, and the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei - after almost 2 years - has not resolved this horrible situation, thus creating serious doubts among Costa Ricans as to its effectiveness as an institution in charge of solving this kind of problems.

The official statement published in March 14, 2014 remains in force in its entirety (see here). Unfortunately the situation has not changed at all and it seems that it will not change in the near future.

Today in Costa Rica we celebrate the anniversary of rejection and disobedience to the universal law of the Church in regard to the Catholic Mass - and the impunity enjoyed by those who commit these acts.
